ARCC was approached to remove this 17.5 meter tower in Twickenham, a straightforward job under normal circumstances however crane access was not a possibility on this site. After visiting the site and carrying out detailed risk assessment it was decided that we would have to deploy our custom made ‘Derek pole’ to assist in the disassembly of this fairly robust structure. Within four days of initial site visit risk assessments had been carried out, method statements had been written and work commenced on site, two and a half days later and the project had been completed, a shining example of the pro-active, re-active attitude ARCC brings to any project we are involved in.

The structure before commencement of works.

Having stripped the head frame our engineers are removing the final steels before starting work on the first section.

Section stripped the engineers have now deployed our custom made Derek Pole to lower the legs individually.

Second leg being lowered, to ensure the safe and controlled lowering engineers have attached a ‘tag line’ to the bottom of the leg to stop any sudden/unexpected movements during the process.

At the end of day two the majority of the tower is down, the final stages and clear up of the site will be completed on day 3.

Using the flange plates left in the base we support the Derek and remove the final leg.

Site clear and ready for the removal of the tower base.
